Algernon Brown

Algernon (or “Algie”) Brown went undrafted in 2017 and earned post-draft looks from the New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks. He replaces fullback/halfback J.D. Moore on the roster as Anthony Sherman’s primary competition (if there is really is any).

Brown is a tank at 6’1, 250 lbs. who had 259 carries in his career for 1,310 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. He’s likely a potential tight end candidate or at least willing to play it. The issue with Brown is that he lacks a real position, but therein also lies his value in that he could be able to fill a couple roles with the Chiefs given his very good athleticism and burst for a player of his size.

The Chiefs have a very crowded backfield with the return of Spencer Ware from injury, Charcandrick West back for his final year and the signings of Kerwynn Williams, Darrel Williams and Damien Williams. But Brown is likely a face in camp so the Chiefs know who else is available in that strong yet versatile role a la Moore or even Orson Charles
