The Chiefs have several key players returning from injury this coming season. What should we expect?
2017 was a rough year in terms of injured players for the Kansas City Chiefs—and key players at that. However, the season has passed and those injuries are healing. The Chiefs will be returning several players who have held significant roles on the team, and will continue to do so once healthy. Health is an important factor when constructing a successful team, and a fresh start for all involved will be crucial for Kansas City in 2018.
Injuries can turn one of the best teams in the league into one of the worst teams in the blink of an eye. However, the Chiefs responded well when faced with the injuries that occurred in the 2017 season. Overcoming adversity is what separates the good teams from the bad, and the Chiefs certainly were on the good side.
This does not mean that the Chiefs didn’t take a step back. After a 5-0 start, the Chiefs lost 5 of their next six games and finished the season 10-6. While injury was not the only cause for this dropoff, it was a big factor.
The Chiefs in 2018 have a chance to bring out the full force of the team, as all of the weapons they have on both sides of the ball will be ready to go by opening day. Barring an injury in camp, we can be excited about a healthy roster again.
