The Kansas City Chiefs have shipped pass rusher Dadi Nicolas back to the general manager who drafted him in a deal with the Cleveland Browns.

John Dorsey has acquired Dadi Nicolas for the second time in his career.

The Cleveland Browns general manager reached a deal with his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, to bring back Nicolas in a trade for tight end Randall Telfer, per Field Yates.

Nicolas was the Chiefs sixth round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played sparingly that year and primarily on special teams, but last year was limited even more by injury that kept him out for the entire seasons. He was drafted as a project pass rusher out of Virginia Tech, but of course had little ability to reach that with a lost second season. Now Dorsey clearly wants to try that experiment again.

In exchange for Nicolas, the Chiefs received Telfer, a former sixth round pick himself although from a previous season in 2015. Telfer is a solid blocking tight end who could fit well in that role given that the Chiefs don’t really have someone in that mold. He will, however, have to compete with several other tight end hopefuls behind Travis Kelce despite the fact that the Chiefs didn’t draft one.

The Chiefs already signed Jace Amaro and Tim Wright this offseason to go with a few undrafted free agents and the incumbents on the depth chart: Demetrius Harris and Orson Charles. Telfer now joins that crowd and gives the Chiefs another facet to consider as they build their depth chart this summer.
