Martavis Bryant trade: Oakland Raiders continues to focus on offense

The Oakland Raiders have added a significant weapon on offense by trading a third round pick to the Steelers in exchange for WR Martavis Bryant.
The Oakland Raiders have added another significant weapon to their offense as they continue to bolster the side of the ball that’s already their biggest strength. Derek Carr must be happy with the results so far to bring Martavis Bryant over from the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a third round choice.
Bryant has reportedly been on the block for some time although the Steelers were denying rumors for a while. Bryant’s contract is up after this season and he brings a $1.9 million cap hit to the Raiders for this season. Expect Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie to work on an extension for Bryant at some point to make good on the trade. Then again, if Bryant left via free agency, the Raiders would likely receive a decent mid-round compensatory pick in return one year later.
Bryant, in the meantime, adds a nice downfield target for the Raiders. Last year in Pittsburgh, Bryant put up 603 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns opposite Antonio Brown in an offense that limits touches for anyone outside of Le’Veon Bell or Brown. Bryant should receive a lot more scoring opportunities and looks overall opposite Amari Cooper.
