Round 7 – Pick 233 overall – Evan Brown – Center/Guard – SMU

If you read my offensive line piece last week you’ll recognize SMU’s Evan Brown as my late round sleeper that I think has the potential to be a long time starter in the NFL. He has starting experience at both guard and center. He’s highly intelligent, having multiple Ivy League scholarship offers out of high school. He didn’t allow a sack his entire senior season in over 500 pass blocking snaps, and at his pro day he put up numbers that would have made him the talk of the offensive line group had it been at the combine.

Despite Brown getting absolutely ZERO buzz in the NFL draft community the guy is strong, fast, smart, and hard working. I believe that even as a 7th round draft pick he could walk in as a rookie and fill Zach Fulton’s role as the guy off the bench that could fill in at either center or guard and eventually challenge for the starting left guard spot.

So my final list for my mock draft (after my trade) is:

#37 – Mike Hughes – CB – UCF
#54 – Nathan Shepherd – DT – Fort Hays State
#86 – Hercules Mata’afa – DT/DE/OLB – Washington State
#122 – Genard Avery – LB – Memphis
#196 – Damon Webb – S – Ohio State
#233 – Evan Brown – C/G – SMU

So what do you think Chiefs fans? Do you like this mock? Do you think the Chiefs should trade up for a corner, and if so is Hughes the right guy? Would you have gone a different direction with any specific pick? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Enjoy the build up to the draft this week. It’s one of my favorite weeks of the NFL year. I hope my posts over the last month have given you some insight into some players to keep an eye on when the Chiefs are on the clock.

As always, thanks for reading and GO CHIEFS!!!
