The New England Patriots schedule has leaked early to the press and it shows they play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

Mark it down. Week Six.

A match-up of last season’s opening game between the Kansas City Chiefs visiting the New England Patriots is once again on the books for the 2018 NFL regular season schedule. This time, the teams are slated to play in Week 6 on Sunday Night Football at Foxborough at 8:20 p.m. E.T., if leaked reports are correct.

Last season, the Chiefs marched into Gillette Stadium on a night that was intended to honor the defending Super Bowl champs and picked them apart in the fourth quarter. By game’s end, the final score of 42-27 showed off a dominant Chiefs squad instead of a Patriots roster looking to repeat.

Specifically for rookie running back Kareem Hunt, who had a coming out party with nearly 250 yards from scrimmage, it signaled great things to come. The Chiefs ended up winning their first five games and were the last undefeated team in the NFL. Unfortunately the wheels began to come off after that stretch and the season ended with another one-and-done playoff appearance.

It will be interesting to see how Bill Belichick has his team ready to play the Chiefs once more after taking such a loss in primetime. This year the Chiefs will have Patrick Mahomes in the crosshairs rather than Alex Smith. Nothing like another tall order for the first year starter.

This is the second piece of the schedule known for the Chiefs after word slipped that the team would be playing the Los Angeles Rams in Mexico City in November.
