Chiefs rumors: Kenneth Acker visits Seattle Seahawks
By Matt Conner
Former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Kenneth Acker took his first known free agent visit with the Seattle Seahawks, per reports.
In the first bit of news we’ve heard concerning Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Kenneth Acker, the free agent took a visit with Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks coaching staff, per Field Yates.
Acker hit the open market with the new league year but had yet to generate any known visits, at least that we’ve heard.
Acker was a solid pick-up for John Dorsey in retrospect, giving up a conditional seventh round choice in exchange for a rotational corner for the last two seasons. While Acker played a position that needed an upgrade, getting a player who will play in 25 total games and even start two of them for a future seventh round choice is always a good buy.
If Acker signs with the Seahawks, it would be a return to the West Coast for a player who got his start with the San Francisco 49ers. Acker was the team’s sixth round choice in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Acker had 35 total tackles, 4 passes defended and a single interception for the Chiefs over the course of the last two seasons. He’s also just one of several defensive backs to hit free agency for the Chiefs this offseason along with Terrance Mitchell, who signed with the Cleveland Browns, Phillip Gaines and Steven Terrell as the Chiefs remake the bulk of their secondary.
