Kansas City Chiefs sign former Dolphins running back Damien Williams

The Kansas City Chiefs have added another running back to the depth chart in the form of Damien Williams, who spent the last few years with Miami.
The Kansas City Chiefs have decided upon a brand new running back after taking a couple free agent visits with the announced signing of Damien Williams.
Williams, a former member of the Miami Dolphins, recently visited with the Chiefs along with former Seattle Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls. The Chiefs apparently found something they liked about Williams and that leaves Rawls hoping for another franchise to show interest.
Williams should give Charcandrick West a potential run for his money as the third running back on the depth chart. Both come with similar skills as players who can feature on special teams as well as serve as a change of pace back best suited as a third down option with decent hands.
The Chiefs already have the league’s leading rusher returning in second-year back Kareem Hunt atop the depth chart. Behind him is Spencer Ware, the starting back in 2016, returning from a season-ending injury. Then there’s now West and Williams. It will be interesting to see how the preseason plays out—how healthy Ware looks, how the team uses West and Williams, who gets what reps.
Williams has spent the last four seasons with the Miami Dolphins, coming into the league as an undrafted free agent and working his way up the depth chart. Last year he caught 20 passes for 155 yards and rushed 46 times for 181 yards, showing off an ability to move the chains both ways.
