Kendall Wright visits Kansas City Chiefs
By Matt Conner
The Kansas City Chiefs apparently aren’t done making changes on offense as they bring in wide receiver Kendall Wright for a visit.
On paper, the offensive side of the roster looks the strongest for the Kansas City Chiefs considering how many losses they’ve sustained on the opposite side. Still that hasn’t stopped the flow of additions, or at least potential ones, to the offense around new quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The latest visit comes on Thursday with news that the Chiefs are having Kendall Wright visit Arrowhead Stadium for a closer look at the free agent wide receiver.
The Chiefs have already added a big ticket item this offseason in Sammy Watkins to bolster an offense that will also need to feed pass catchers like Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. It’s also clear that the league’s leading rusher, Kareem Hunt, will need to get his touches as well, including the passing game.
Adding Wright to the mix might seem like an embarrassment of riches, and yet the Chiefs do have some question marks at the position. Can Watkins live up to his contract and stay healthy? Can Chris Conley return from a season-ending injury? Can DeMarcus Robinson and/or Jehu Chesson make the leap? Maybe the answers to those questions aren’t good behind closed doors.
The Chiefs look largely set at the position, but maybe Veach is checking to see what the price would be on Wright’s services. Or maybe there are unannounced issues. On paper, however, the Chiefs look like an explosive offense that could add yet another weapon.
Wright had 59 catches for 614 receiving yards in 2017.
