Jarvis Jenkins re-signs with Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have bolstered their defensive line by re-signing a rotational player of their own with the announced return of Jarvis Jenkins.
Jarvis Jenkins will be returning to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018.
The announced re-signing of one of the Chiefs’ rotational pieces along the defensive line is good news for a team that was looking very thin up front (and remain in need of some outside help).
While Jenkins might not be the starting option he was projected to be when the Washington Redskins first drafted him in the second round in 2011, Jenkins has turned into a valuable part-time player for the Chiefs over the last season-and-a-half, having come over midway through the 2016 season from the New York Jets.
Jenkins has played in 18 games for the Chiefs during that span with a single start that came last year. In 2017, Jenkins had 9 tackles and 1 sack, but he’s shown a bit more ability to get after the passer in the box score with more playing time when he had 4 sacks in 2015 with the Chicago Bears.
Jenkins now returns to help form a Chiefs line headed up by former second round choice Chris Jones and returning veteran Allen Bailey. Those are some nice pieces to work with but both in quantity and quality the Chiefs will need to add two or more players to round out a rotation that can do what Bob Sutton’s defense needs up front.
Expect Brett Veach to make more moves in free agency since the Chiefs were reportedly in the mix for Muhammad Wilkerson and other defensive tackles.
