The Kansas City Chiefs had the chance to spend significant time with free agent defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson on Saturday.

Muhammad Wilkerson spent the day with the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, putting in an official visit with yet another interested team after the defensive lineman was released by the New York Jets, the very team that drafted him.

Wilkerson spent time with the Chiefs at Arrowhead on Saturday, per reports, the latest visit of several he will make before making a very informed decision. He’s already spent time with the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints before coming to Kansas City, and reports suggest that the Washington Redskins and even Oakland Raiders could be next up on the list.

It’s also a list that could become even more crowded:

Wilkerson’s best playing days are likely behind him given that he’ll be 29-years-old this coming season, but he likely still has a few more years of solid production in him, especially if he’s motivated on the field to prove his doubters wrong after he was cut loose by the Jets. A former Pro Bowl player, Wilkerson had only 3.5 sacks last year, his lowest total in a single season since his rookie year in 2011, but he’d still make a nice addition to the Chiefs defensive front.

Chris Jones is set to once again anchor the middle for the Chiefs in 2018, but beyond that, everything else is a question mark. Allen Bailey is set to return on the last year of his deal. Jarvis Jenkins and Bennie Logan are free agents. For a team that could have already used help, they could become thinner along the line before they actually make things better in free agency and the draft. Wilkerson as a potential signing would go a long way toward strengthening the unit.

Wilkerson played for Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton during his first two years in the NFL.
