Several members of the Kansas City Chiefs have made their presence felt at the Senior Bowl over the year, including several current stars.
Former Kansas City Chiefs general manager seemed like a big fan of the Senior Bowl. Year after year, the Chiefs would end up selecting a couple prospects who appeared in the post-season all-star exhibition that allowed teams to get to know draft picks a bit more through interviews and on-field play by actually coaching them (for the lucky teams involved).
This year, the Senior Bowl is already upon us and the actual game will be played on Saturday after a week of practices and interviews leading up to the contest. The Chiefs are on site as is every other NFL franchise with a full front office entourage and several coaches.
Here’s a look at several members of the current roster who used the Senior Bowl to raise their draft stock, including this year’s rushing leader and a franchise pass rushing great.
Tanoh Kpassagnon
Last year, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Tanoh Kpassagnon as a project pass rusher out of Villanova, and it was his incredible size that began to turn heads early during Senior Bowl week. He weighed with the longest arms of anyone in attendance and the overall greatest wingspan as well, which isn’t a surprise considering that people still rave about his length and overall athletic frame that’s so intimidating.
Some scouts and general managers likely saw the leap he’d have to make from playing at Nova versus the NFL and shied away from giving him a high grade, but John Dorsey trusted the Chiefs coaches to help Kpassagnon adjust. Even at the Senior Bowl, some analysts were making Jason Pierre-Paul comparisons for the 6’7 pass rusher, which could bode well as the Chiefs expect him to make progress heading into year two.
Here’s an interview with Kpassagnon from last year at this time.
