Three scouts have left the Kansas City Chiefs front office to join John Dorsey in his new digs with the Cleveland Browns.

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that John Dorsey would convince former co-workers to join him in his new environs in Cleveland as general manager of the Cleveland Browns. It finally happened on Wednesday with the announced signings of three former scouts who have left the Kansas City Chiefs in order to bolster Dorsey’s front office staff with trusted friends and personnel executives.

We’ve already wondered here at Arrowhead Addict about the future of Dan Zegers when the Green Bay Packers announced they were going to shake up their front office. Zegers spent several years in Green Bay before joining the Chiefs as the personnel coordinator. It turns out we were right that he could leave, but we just didn’t know it would be to the Browns. Dorsey is installing Zegers as the team’s personnel coordinator.

Jimmy Noel gets a pretty serious promotion going from a general area scout with the Chiefs to assistant director of pro scouting. Matt Donahoe was an area scout with the Chiefs and he will remain in that role with the Browns, although it’s likely safe to say that Donahoe’s ability to climb the ladder with the Browns will be easier going or else why make the move.

Dorsey was the Chiefs general manager from 2013 until earlier this year when team owner Clark Hunt surprised pretty much everyone with the announcement that he would not be re-signing Dorsey to a new extension to match that of head coach Andy Reid. Dorsey asked for permission to walk away  early, to leave the team in the summer rather than at season’s end, and was granted that permission.

Dorsey was hired by the Browns as their new GM near the end of the regular season.
