The latest FanSided fan rankings are out with another Fandom 250, and the red and gold clad fans of the Chiefs came in fourth in the NFL section.

Every year, FanSided pulls together the mammoth exercise called the Fandom 250, “the ultimate ranking of fandoms.” From sports teams to celebrities to brands to TV shows, it measures the fervency of that fan base to see which group comes out on top.

This year the Ohio State Buckeyes took No. 1 overall in the Fandom 250, and as a man who married into an Ohio State family, I can at least personally attest to how annoying their fans can (and will) be. They root for every NFL team as long as there is a former Buckeye on it, which just makes them all professional bandwagon fans since every team likely has someone on the roster from Ohio State. They also randomly want to discuss which fullback was the best in the ’80s. You get the idea.

When it comes to the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs came at No. 30 overall and No. 4 in terms of NFL fan bases. Reading the reasons for their selection being so high pretty much sums  up the Chiefs fan perfectly, from the tailgating to the volume at Arrowhead.

That said, the Chiefs coming in fourth means that three fan bases beat them: the Dallas Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers. As an unbiased observer, it makes sense that the Cowboys are on top. Anyone labeled America’s team will earn that notion and Dallas fans are eerily like Ohio State’s in that they’re just as annoying. It’s also understandable that the Packers are listed. They sit in the snow. There’s nothing else to do. They also own the team.

But the Steelers? Nope. They’re not known for being loud like fans of the Seahawks or Chiefs. They’re also dirty, like Philadelphia West. Check out this fight in the stands from just a few weeks ago. The city is dirty, which means the fans are, too. In fact, if you meet a sports fan from Pennsylvania, just run in the opposite direction.

At the very least, the Chiefs beat the Raiders, Chargers and Broncos. As for the Chargers, they’re wondering if they even have any fans to poll in the first place.
