Chiefs injury report: Mitch Morse, Eric Murray out versus Raiders
By Matt Conner
The Kansas City Chiefs will be without safety Eric Murray and starting center Mitch Morse when they take on the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
The Kansas City Chiefs are officially going to missing one key player on each side of the ball when they face the Oakland Raiders on Sunday with news that safety Eric Murray and center Mitch Morse will both miss the Week 14 contest.
Morse has been dealing with a foot sprain and has missed practice all this week, so it’s not a major surprise to see him sitting out against the Raiders. That said it doesn’t make his absence any easier to take given his importance along the offensive line. Morse is the anchor in the middle and is perhaps the single best performer along the entire front—certainly along the interior.
Morse has already missed significant time in 2017 due to the same injury, a foot sprain first suffered in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He didn’t return until Week 8 and it’s possible this could keep him out for the same extended amount of time.
As for Murray, his absence only exacerbates an already depleted secondary that’s missing Marcus Peters due to a suspension. Eric Berry is obviously out due to a season ending injury, so two starters from the team’s base defense are out, and the remaining characters need some serious work. The Chiefs must be hoping that Darrelle Revis is much more ready in his second game back to work.
Murray has 23 tackles and 4 passes defended in 11 games played so far this year.
