The opening lines are already out for Week 14 and the Kansas City Chiefs are the favorites as they prepare to host the Oakland Raiders.

At this point, it should take a minor miracle for the Kansas City Chiefs to be favored over any team other than the Cleveland Browns. Somehow, however, the Chiefs remain the odds-on favorite to win each and every week during their current skid and the trend is continuing as they head into a showdown with the Oakland Raiders in Week 14.

Sports Book Review has the opening line for the Chiefs and Raiders at 4.5 points in favor of the Chiefs as they prepare to host the game at Arrowhead Stadium. Home games will always give a team a 3-point advantage, but even then, Las Vegas oddsmakers are giving the Chiefs even more of an advantage based upon, well, something we apparently cannot see.

Yes, it’s true that the Chiefs were the NFL’s lone unbeaten team left in 2017. Yes, they pummeled the New England Patriots and gave the Philadelphia Eagles their first loss. But they’ve also lost six of their last seven games and even tanked when faced with clearly less talented foes like the New York Giants, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.

The Raiders, on the other hand, have won three of their last four games, have already defeated the Chiefs once, and look like a much safer bet to make the postseason than K.C. at this stage. They’ve defeated the Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins and New York Giants in that time with the only loss coming to the New England Patriots. In short, the Raiders have done what’s expected (beat the lesser teams while losing to the better teams) and that predictability should equal more bettors in their direction.

The line is bound to move over time as more and more bets come in. It will be interesting to see how much the pendulum swings over the next five days.
