The Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets meet in a match-up of two teams in 1-5 skids and it’s hard to predict who might come out on top.

The Kansas City Chiefs need a win. Anything will do. The New York Jets are just fine, but then again, we would have accepted the Giants as well. Maybe even another New York team in the Buffalo Bills.

Instead of sweeping all three New York teams in a row as they should, the Chiefs have lost two of the first three games and the Jets could put the team’s entire season on the ropes. The Chiefs have won only 1 of their last six games in a slide that has completely vanquished any and all advantages earned from being the only unbeaten team through five weeks.

Here are our Arrowhead Addict staff picks and predictions and it’s clear that even the biggest Chiefs fans are starting to lose hope.

Chiefs 13, Jets 10
The games shouldn’t be this close, but even projecting a win for the Chiefs at this point is a major step forward. Chiefs Kingdom should take anything they can get, and it’s just hard to see Andy Reid and company losing to another non-playoff team in the way they’ve lost the last two weeks. It won’t completely stop the bleeding, but even ekeing out a win would be good for the entire team. [Matt Conner]

Jets 20, Chiefs 10
When looking at this game at the beginning of the season I thought it was undoubtly a win. After watching how the Chiefs have played the last few weeks though I am not so sure anymore. Josh McCown has impressed everyone by keeping the Jets in just about every game this season, pair that with a defense that has been playing very physical football in the trenches and it gives you a team that has a chance to win just about every game. Alex Smith has struggled reading coverage lately and im not sure if that goes away this week, the Chiefs have to find a way to run the ball against this team to help him out otherwise we could see this slide continue. Chiefs 17, Jets 10

This was supposed to be the easy portion of the schedule. Now it doesn’t look so easy. The Jets defense is not to be underestimated and the offense has potential. The Chiefs will have a new player in the lineup that the Jets are quite familiar with. The big question will be how much will he end up playing? Darrelle Revis hasn’t played all season, and has only been practicing with the team for just over a week. The offensive line has now been healthy and playing together for 3 weeks. We need to see some big improvements, especially considering we’ll be facing the 8th ranked run stopping defensive line. I think all things considered it will again be another closer than it should be matchup. [David Thomas]

Chiefs 20, Jets 13
This week the Kansas City Chiefs will get back on track with an ugly 20-13 win over a bad New York Jets team. The offense will look respectable with Kareem Hunt rushing for over a 100 yards for the first time in weeks. Alex Smith will play average and continue to start. The defense has found a groove and they’ll keep it up against a bad Jets offense. [Britt Zank]
