Bills vs. Chiefs: Kelvin Benjamin will miss Week 12 with injury
By Matt Conner
The Buffalo Bills will be without their best wide receiver (and newest) in Kelvin Benjamin when they take the field to play the Chiefs in Week 12.
The Buffalo Bills will have a harder time moving the chains on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs defense with the news that Kelvin Benjamin, their newly acquired wide receiver, didn’t even make the trip due to an injury.
Benjamin’s status was in doubt all week given that he’d missed practice, but the final word hurts a team that’s struggled to keep up with opposing offenses over the last three weeks. The Bills have lost three straight games in spectacular fashion, surrendering an average of 45 points each week in that span.

Without Benjamin, the Bills will struggle to keep up if the Chiefs are given the same ability to stretch the field and find the end zone, a decent bet with Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Kareem Hunt as options for the Chiefs. Of course, recent weeks have rendered the once powerful offense fairly inept, including last week’s poor showing against the New York Giants, but the Chiefs have reason to hope at home that they can reverse course.
The Bills recently acquired Benjamin from the Carolina Panthers before the NFL’s trade deadline, but the deal has had minimal impact so far. Benjamin only has 4 catches over the two games he’s played for the Bills. However, like every move the Bills have made this year, even the trade for Benjamin is more about a long-term play—in this instance, securing a top-tier wideout for their quarterback of the future. Whether that’s Nathan Peterman or a future acquisition is another question for another time.
