The online response to the Kansas City Chiefs’ signing of Darrelle Revis was a mixture of excitement and surprise.
For the last 10 games, the Kansas City Chiefs have been searching for a starting cornerback. Marcus Peters is a sure thing, a Pro Bowler who might be the best young ballhawk in the entire NFL, who holds down one side for the Chiefs defense. On the other side, however, it’s been easy for opponents to take advantage of the Chiefs defense, which has fallen far from even a year or two ago.
The Chiefs have relied on young players already in house throughout this season in the hopes that someone would step up and lock down the role opposite Peters. Unfortunately nothing has worked out among Phillip Gaines, Terrance Mitchell, Kenneth Acker and Steven Nelson. Instead of recycling the same guys, the team finally decided to make a move by signing Darrelle Revis.
The news that the future Hall of Famer had signed with the Chiefs drew an expected surprise online via social media of both excitement and surprise. After all, the Chiefs had a limited salary cap situation and Revis had been sitting for over half a season.
Revis brings with him 140 regular season games of experience with 29 career interceptions. He is a seven-time Pro Bowler who was once known as the best pass defender in the National Football League. Coming in, he’s expected to start opposite Peters although it’s uncertain whether or not he will be ready to suit up and play against the Buffalo Bills in just a few days.
We have signed free agent cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Revis the Business Man strikes again: Three games counts as a season for all NFL player benefits like 401K, Annuity, Pension, Severance, etc. plus chance to prove worthy of nice offseason deal.

If you're upset over the Revis signing, then there's obviously no pleasing you. #Chiefs are at least trying to upgrade at a position of weakness.

Chiefs have been trying to sign Darrelle Revis for much of this season, per source. He wouldn’t take the deal - until now.

Darrelle Revis allowed a passer rating of 104 last year when targeted. That was 40 points higher than his career average.

Did he just fall off the age cliff, or was he giving less than 100%?
Chiefs gonna find out which. Seems smart
#Chiefs don't need Revis to be a superstar. They just need him to be good enough to stop the bleeding for now. #ChiefsKingdom
