We take a look at the players that need to step up heading into this game on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a great chance on Monday night to take over the AFC West even with 9 games to go. If they win on they will be three games up on the entire division which could prove to be enough to win the AFC West. They will be coming off a mini-bye week and should be healthier than they’ve been since early this season.

The return of Mitch Morse to the Chiefs offensive line is expected to happen on Monday night. If Morse returns I would expect Fulton to be shifted to right guard if LDT is still out. With Fulton at guard and Morse at center the Chiefs offensive line should be better than it’s been in recent weeks. This is very important when it comes to this game. The Broncos are much better against the run this year and the Chiefs need to be able to keep them off balance.

Defensively, it’s possible that cornerback Steven Nelson returns to the lineup. If that happens on Monday it’s a big upgrade as he will help in both the running game and the passing game. With Nelson back it should also help give Dee Ford and Justin Houston more time to get after quarterback Trevor Siemian and the Broncos passing attack. Kansas City is in a prime position to really make a statement with a big win. Jamaal Charles’ return to Arrowhead will be a story line but it shouldn’t overshadow the rest of the game. Charles isn’t the runner he used to be but he could still help make this game interesting.
