Frank Zombo

Outside linebacker Frank Zombo has stepped in the last couple games for outside linebacker Dee Ford who left the game against the Chargers early. While Zombo is not the pass rusher that Ford is, he has done pretty well against the run on that right side of the defense. He has made some great stops in the run game, some that would have been touchdowns.

Zombo is a player that many Chiefs fans on Twitter have very little faith in but continues to play well filling in for Ford. He has had five tackles each of the last two games and contributed to a sack against Houston. While he’s not Dee Ford, he has stepped up big the last couple weeks.

Daniel Sorensen and Eric Murray

All-Pro safety Eric Berry went down in Week 1 against the New England Patriots after having a great game covering another All-Pro in tight end Rob Gronkowski. Between safety Daniel Sorensen and second-year cornerback converted safety Eric Murray,  however, the pair have done a good job taking on Berry’s roles.

While Sorensen has been playing some safety but mostly a hybrid linebacker position, Murray has been taking on most of the coverage and deep responsibilities. Murray has done a great job so far covering tight ends like Zach Ertz of the Philadelphia Eagles, Antonio Gates of the Los Angeles Chargers, and Jordan Reed of the Washington Redskins.
