Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt has won the FedEx Ground Player of the Week award for Week 3 in the NFL.
Sharing awards with Tom Brady is never a bad thing for a player’s career. That’s what Kareem Hunt is doing this week as the FedEx Ground Player of the Week in the NFL for Week 3, an award he won while Brady won the FedEx Air Player of the week. Both awards were announced on Thursday.

Hunt won the award for the second time this season in another dominating performance, this time over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3. He already won the season-opening award after putting up an NFL record 246 yards from scrimmage in a win over the New England Patriots. Hunt is currently leading the NFL in total touchdowns (6), rushing touchdowns (4) and rushing yards (401).
Last week in particular, Hunt put up 172 rushing yards on only 17 carries, good for an incredible 10.1 yards/carry average. He bested Todd Gurley of the Los Angeles Rams for the award despite Gurley’s impressive total of 3 touchdowns in Week 3.
Hunt has made a name for himself as top running back in the NFL this year, but he’s also a considerable threat as a pass catcher out of the backfield for the Chiefs. He’s caught 9 passes for 137 receiving yards and 2 additional touchdowns. He’s also a big reason why the Chiefs are 3-0 early in the season. His next competition will come on Monday Night Football against the Washington Redskins.
FedEx will donate $2,000 to the USO in Kareem Hunt’s name for winning the award.
