Defensive tackle Chris Jones stole the show for the Chiefs on Sunday recording his first interception and leading the team in the statistic.

There are a lot of storylines from the game on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Kansas City Chiefs took on a young team coached by one of their own ex-coaches in Doug Pederson. If was a very hard fought game throughout the first half and most of the third quarter. Kansas City never got in a position where they could put the game away either. Even in the fourth quarter they were only up two scores with enough time left to make it interesting.

By far the best player of the game for the Chiefs was second year defensive tackle Chris Jones. Jones was dominant throughout the game and made his man pay for any mistakes. At one point Jones ended up coming out of the game with what looked to be a scary head injury. He was able to return a series later and came up big for the Chiefs when he returned to the game.

The second year pro ended the day with 4 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and an interception. Those would be good stats for most players over a three or four game span, but to get them in one game is incredible.

One of the things that will never show up on the stat sheet for Jones is his energy. He is one of the reasons the crowd was electric today. He kept trying to pump up the crowd in the third and fourth quarters. Jones is a very big piece of this defense moving forward and he is already one of the league’s best.
