The Kansas City Chiefs are 5.5 point favorites over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, a shift away from much closer opening odds.

Typically playing at a home stadium will yield a three point difference automatically per a sportsbook in figuring out the betting odds between two NFL teams. Taking that into account, the Kansas City Chiefs opened as only 1 point favorites on a neutral field and 4 point favorites overall playing at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, per Sportsbook Review.

Since then, however, bettors have rushed to place bets on the Chiefs, making them slightly stronger favorites than originally posted. A wide range of sites now have the Chiefs listed as 5.5 to 6 point favorites, meaning that bettors have shifted the line by laying more and more money on the Chiefs to win.

Despite the shift in odds, K.C. will face a serious competition on Sunday in the Eagles. The team started strong against the Washington Redskins and walked away with a 30-17 win, an important game in what should be a tight race in the NFC East. Carson Wentz is a nice young quarterback still growing each week and the Eagles have given him a nice array of pass catchers to help him develop. As the Eagles learn how to best utilize Alshon Jeffrey and Torrey Smith alongside Zach Ertz and Nelson Algholor, they could really become a dangerous offense.

It’s also the first time that Andy Reid will be coaching against his former offensive coordinator Doug Pederson, who is now in his second season coaching the Eagles. It will be interesting to see how much each coach seems to know the other and what tricks they pull in response.
