The Miami Dolphins have executed a waiver claim for former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Justin March-Lillard.

Dozens of players will be claimed in the next day or so as NFL teams claim players cut loose by other teams. For a loaded team with plenty of depth, the Kansas City Chiefs are likely to see a number of former players claimed by other franchises around the NFL. For this offseason, one of the first names to be claimed is former Chiefs linebacker Justin March-Lillard, who will now be suiting up in South Florida.

The Dolphins are inheriting a well-round player is March-Lillard who is beloved in the community and locker room alike. The promising linebacker couldn’t quite recover from spending the 2015 season on injured reserve to make his mark like he did a couple preseasons ago. The reality is that the Chiefs were simply too deep for March-Lillard to make the team, especially with young developmental players like Ukeme Eligwe and new additions like Kevin Pierre-Louis and Reggie Ragland.

March gives the Dolphins a nice developmental linebacker who can help in the middle with an unquestioned work ethic and demeanor. The Fins coaches should love working with him as he aims to occupy a back-up spot behind Rey Maualuga. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, they lost their middle linebacker of the future when Raekwon McMillan to injury for the season.

March-Lillard had 22 total tackles in 5 starts last year for the Chiefs.
