The Kansas City Chiefs have traded offensive lineman Isaiah Battle to the Seattle Seahawks for a conditional draft pick, as yet undisclosed.

The Kansas City Chiefs were able to work one more trade before final cuts were due in order to gain at least some draft capital in return for one of their players as teams assemble their 53-man rosters. This time, they dealt offensive lineman Isaiah Battle to the Seattle Seahawks for a conditional 2018 NFL Draft pick, as yet undisclosed.

Not long ago, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach also worked out a deal with the Tennessee Titans to send defensive lineman David King for a conditional seventh round draft choice. Both deals are a good way to help restock the cupboards, so to speak, after trading draft choices in 2018 and 2019 for linebacker Reggie Ragland and offensive lineman Cameron Erving in recent days. While the Chiefs are unlikely to recoup the actual rounds in which they gave up draft picks, even having a slot in a draft allows a team another asset to use to move around.

Battle was once a selection of the then-St. Louis Rams in the NFL Supplemental Draft back in 2015. He failed to stick with the Rams but reached a reserve/futures deal with the Chiefs back in January. Given that he was unlikely to make the team, the ability to deal him to Seattle, who needs a serious amount of offensive line help, for a draft pick is a plus.

Battle, who is only 24, should give the Seahawks a developmental player on the outside who can help round out the roster and provide help as a back-up this season.
