We talked to Matt Williamson today from Fanrag Sports about Patrick Mahomes and the AFC West.

The Chiefs had their last practice of the preseason on Tuesday afternoon. Several players were absent as they were given a day of rest. Justin Houston and Derrick Johnson both didn’t practice, but head coach Andy Reid was quick to let people know they were not injured.

A new injury was reported, however, with Ashton Lampkin tearing his ACL in practice on Sunday. He will have surgery soon and will be place on injured reserve. It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs keep him on IR for the season and have him back in training camp next year. Cairo Santos had another good day at practice after looking strong on Sunday as well. Reid said he may take the field goals on Thursday night, but Sam Ficken would handle the kickoffs.

Kansas City will take on the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night in Arrowhead in the final game of the preseason. This will be the biggest moment for some of the players on the Chiefs to try to win a job on the team. Rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes will start the game and probably play most of the half. Fellow rookie Kareem Hunt will probably not play in the game on Thursday night as he is the starter at running back.

Kansas City will have a lot of tough cuts to make on Saturday. They will probably end up with tough decisions to be made on the offensive line if they only go with seven. They could also have a couple difficult cuts on the defensive line and at corner.
