The Kansas City Chiefs will face a tough decision on whether or not to keep wide receiver Marcus Kemp on the active roster.

In the next several days, the Kansas City Chiefs will face several tough decisions at all positions on the roster. Besides punter, kicker and maybe a couple other spots, the Chiefs will have to think seriously about which players to keep on the active roster, numbering only 53 total players, and which others to let go on the waiver wire, hoping that many of them might just slip through so they can place them on the practice squad.

Marcus Kemp is making the wide receiver decision tougher with each passing week. Last Friday night, the former Hawaii grad made his presence felt on special teams at pivotal points during the team’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. In fact, during a game in which mistakes reigned supreme—from dropped catches to silly penalties—Kemp’s play stood out all the more.

Kemp himself knows that he’s doing all he can to make the team—any team, really— and he’s confident in what he’s hearing so far.

"“It feels good,” he said. “On the offensive end, I didn’t do as well as I could have, but that comes with the territory. But on the special teams’ front, I felt really good about my performance and I felt like I put on tape, even if I don’t make this team, for another team to see that I can play.”"

Beyond just providing a couple key special teams tackles, Kemp has also shown his ability to help on the offensive end as well. Don’t forget he caught Patrick Mahomes’ first ever touchdown pass.

Kemp might be an undrafted free agent, but he knows that once you make the roster, you have a blank slate. Kemp has certainly done all that he can as a long, talented receiver to do the little things to earn notice. So far, Andy Reid and Dave Toub are aware of Kemp’s talents and it might be enough to land him a spot on the active roster.
