Chiefs vs. Seahawks: Spencer Ware carted off with injury

Spencer Ware went down with an injury early in the Kansas City Chiefs game on Friday against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been fortunate to avoid serious injuries through the preseason’s first two games, but running back Spencer Ware went down early against the Seattle Seahawks on Friday. Hopefully the details turn out to be nothing too serious, but it looks as if the team will be without their leading rusher for at least a while if not the rest of the game. Of course, given the preseason, there’s no need for the team to rush Ware back to the game.
Ware went down after trying to stretch a short pass to the first down marker as they drove near the goal line. The drive ended after Kareem Hunt could not finish what Ware tried to start and Sam Ficken kicked a short field goal after coming so close to the end zone.
Ware injured his right knee on the play and the Chiefs will hope it’s nothing serious. Ware is a nice two-way threat and an underrated performer who started very strong last year for the Chiefs. Injuries and fatigue likely played a part in his decreased productivity over the course of the season, his first as a featured back.

Kareem Hunt could be forced into much more responsibility than originally expected as a rookie, the team’s third round pick out of Toledo after they traded up to select him in the draft. Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller are also around to help with depth and Indiana rookie free agent Devine Redding is also on the roster.
