Projecting the Kansas City Chiefs final roster 3.0: The offense
By Chris Clark
Now that the second preseason game is in the books, Chris Clark is back with another 53-man roster projection. Here’s a look at the offense.
The Kansas City Chiefs offense looks sharp after a strong performance in both the running and passing games versus the Bengals over the weekend. The 30-12 win in Cincinnati evened the Chiefs record at 1-1 in the preseason and gave fans plenty of confidence about the team’s offensive capabilities moving forward.
With our third roster projection of the preseason, let’s take a closer look at the offense to predict who is likely to make the 53-man roster when all is said and done.
Quarterbacks
Alex Smith – Smith has looked fantastic throughout the preseason. His throw to Travis Kelce down the middle of the field would do wonders to open up the Chiefs offense throughout the season.
Patrick Mahomes – Mahomes has also looked great in the preseason. He made at least two throws on Saturday night that Smith doesn’t have the arm to make. Smith also probably doesn’t make the throws just based on his penchant for being conservative.
Tyler Bray – Bray hasn’t looked bad in the preseason but he is definitely the third string QB at this point. Mahomes is the future of the position but Bray could be the Chiefs back-up for years to come.
