Two separate trade proposals to consider; the second would see the Chiefs start rookie QB Patrick Mahomes much sooner rather than later.

The Kansas City Chiefs had their last training camp practice on Wednesday in St. Joe. It was the only practice throughout all of training camp that got forced inside by rain. Wednesday was also Military Appreciation day at Chiefs training camp. Generally when camp gets forced to go inside the crowd is out of luck and is not allowed to go inside. On Wednesday the Chiefs took practice inside and allowed 150 military personnel join them in the indoor practice facility where they finished their walk-through. After practice was over the Chiefs stayed around the facility, signed autographs and took pictures with the military personnel. Complete class move by the entire Chiefs organization.

Over the past couple of days multiple places have discussed the Chiefs making a couple of different trades. The first, a story from NFL.com, poses the question of whether or not Kansas City should trade for Buffalo Bills LB Reggie Ragland. Ragland was the first round pick of the Bills in 2016 and missed all of last year with an ACL injury. He was perfect for Rex Ryan’s 3-4 defense but he is not a good fit for the Bills new 4-3. Given the Bills GM’s penchant for making trades and you have to wonder if he could be had for a decent price. In a few words, price is right you make the trade, but Kansas City isn’t making that deal.

The second trade proposition is one that Chiefs fans are crazy about. Should the Chiefs trade Alex Smith for a first round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars. I couldn’t find a story regarding this trade. I believe it was conjecture by a Jaguars fan. Regardless, it is definitely something that the fan base wants to consider. For Kansas City it simply doesn’t make sense at this time. Mahomes has shown promise but against the third string. If he plays well again this week maybe the thought picks up steam but as of right now it’s too early to make that move.
