A new column at NFL.com lists some interesting trade proposals, and one of them brings Reggie Ragland to Kansas City in a deal with the Bills.

Once upon a time, Chiefs Kingdom crossed their fingers hoping that linebacker Reggie Ragland would somehow fall in the NFL Draft all the way to the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2016 NFL Draft. As a hard-hitting linebacker from the University of Alabama, Ragland had proven himself to be an old-school style defender who performed his best under the brightest lights. He seemed perfectly suited to sit at the heart of the Chiefs defense, especially if he could learn from Derrick Johnson for a spell.

Looking back, most fans are likely quite glad that John Dorsey and company were in charge rather than a consensus fan vote, given that Dorsey traded back and got a future star in defensive tackle Chris Jones atop the second round. However, things could be interesting if Ragland still found a way to Kansas City.

In a recent column at NFL.com, Marc Sessler invented several trade proposals to help teams as they pare down their rosters. For his first trade, he ends up sending Ragland to the Chiefs just one year later. Sessler never says what it might cost the Chiefs, but he makes does state his reasons why. Sessler writes:

"I’d love to see him grow in Kansas City, where the team could use an understudy to Derrick Johnson, who turns 35 this November. Few teams do a better job of developing young defenders — the kind of attention Ragland desperately needs."

Let’s take a closer look at the viability of this deal and what it might cost K.C. if Buffalo were really floating the idea.
