KANSAS CITY, MO - NOVEMBER 29: Head coach Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs congratulates outside linebacker Tamba Hali

Any rumored drama that was associated with Tamba Hali and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has clearly been taken care of.

Now that there is business to take care of on the field, it’s clear that some things have been taken care of off of it—that is, if there was ever really any issues in the first place.

Just a few weeks ago, Tamba Hali took to Twitter to express his frustrations and opinions on a number of subjects, from having teammates present (or not) for offseason activities and the amount of playing time he was given in the playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last January. Since then, the Kansas City Chiefs linebacker has clarified his remarks on Facebook and made sure there was no drama once everyone gathered for training camp. Now he’s made sure to let everyone know that he has nothing but respect for his head coach.

While some fans and members of the media made things into a bigger deal than originally intended, the reality is that Hali was and will be a passionate, competitive player who is ready for a deep playoff run—one that results in a Super Bowl win. He’s also hungry to be a significant part of it, not just an observer who passively earns a ring. He’s a player who knows what he has left and he’s aware that this year is perhaps his best opportunity left to make significant impact against opposing quarterbacks toward that very goal.

Even beyond Hali, the reality is the Chiefs remain a steady-as-she-goes organization once everyone gathers in the locker room at Arrowhead. Despite surprising cuts, new additions, front office decisions or Twitter posts, head coach Andy Reid and a strong group of veteran players can and will set the professional tone for excellence going forward.
