The Kansas City Chiefs do not face the Dallas Cowboys until Week 9, so given his six-game suspension, the Cowboys star will face KC.

The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the toughest, if not the absolute hardest, schedules in the NFL this season. Not only are they on primetime television a league-high six times, but they face a grueling out of division schedule in addition to each of their AFC West foes twice. One difficult game in particular is a road contest against the Dallas Cowboys. Fans hoping for a bit easier game due to Ezekiel Elliot’s rumored suspension will be let down, as the Chiefs will not play the Cowboys until Week 9.

With the report that Elliot will miss the first six games, it means the Cowboys will have to adjust their offensive game plan for almost the entire first half of the season. For the Chiefs, the game against Dallas comes at the end of the first half of their season, just before a late bye that preps them for the easiest part of the schedule. Unfortunately, the Dallas game wraps a gauntlet that will be difficult to endure without sustaining multiple losses.

Elliot will apparently serve a suspension for a domestic violence dispute that arose and still needs legal clarification. The fact that the NFL is acting now is a bit odd, but clearly the league wanted to get ahead of this and settle matters early for some reason. Or maybe there’s clear evidence before the league that has yet to surface to the public.

Either way, for the first six games of the season, barring appeal, Elliot will sit in key games versus the New York Giants, Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys have an early bye in Week 5, so he will also sit an extra week waiting for that sixth game. The Chiefs will be the second game Elliot suits up for after opening against the Washington Redskins in Week 8.

Elliot was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year last season as he led the league in carries (322) and rushing yards (1,631). He also scored a total of 16 touchdowns.
