Locked on Chiefs: Brett Veach speaks for the first time

A review of what Kansas City Chiefs GM Brett Veach said and a couple of audio clips from the press conference.

On today’s Locked on Chiefs podcast, we take a look at Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach’s introductory press conference and give you our thoughts on what he said. He was well spoken and obviously has a plan that he is articulating to those in the organization below him. Veach is one of the youngest GM’s in the NFL but he could be in the position a long time. He needs to continue Dorsey’s scouting success and fix the issue with communication if he plans on holding the position for a long time.

The Chiefs have been at training camp now for three days and will take the field for the last practice before the rest of the players arrive on Friday. Veterans Alex Smith, Travis Kelce and Derrick Johnson are getting an extra day of rest today but will be back to work on Friday. All three players have looked healthy and ready to roll to this point. With Smith sitting, Mahomes and Bray will get a couple more repetitions that will help them prepare for the season.

They have multiple interns as coaches this year that fans will recognize. Michael Vick is an intern that is helping the Chiefs quarterbacks after playing for Reid in Philadelphia. Vick brings a unique perspective to the team and could be very beneficial for Mahomes to learn from. Former Chiefs wide receiver Derrick Alexander is also interning for the organization. Alexander will be interning for training camp as well and looks to bring more experience to the staff as Greg Lewis is in his first year as WR coach.
