The Kansas City Chiefs have announced a few more front office changes after the official hiring of Brett Veach as General Manager.

The front office of the Kansas City Chiefs looks very different than it did six months ago. A steady stream of winning seasons will lead to other teams poaching executives from the front office, so some change for the Chiefs was expected. Then the unexpected dismissal of general manager John Dorsey paved the way for Brett Veach’s promotion to the role, leaving further holes in the front office. Now the Chiefs have announced a few more moves that will help fill specific holes and provide a solid new structure in place going forward.

The Chiefs specifically announced that former co-director of player personnel, Mike Borgonzi, has the role all to himself these days now that Veach, his former co-director, sits in the GM’s seat. Borgonzi has a heavy scouting background, having climbed that ladder all the way to his current role, and he figures to play an important role as a trusted advisor for Veach for the draft.

Two more hires were also announced on Monday with the additions of Michael Davis and David Hinson. The latter joins the team as the newest area scout. Hinson will be very familiar with the role of area scout since he’s served the same role for the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles. (No, he did not serve during Andy Reid’s tenure with the Eagles.)

Davis spent 16 seasons with the New York Jets, climbing all the way to assistant director of college scouting, before jumping ship to the Philadelphia Eagles to serve as a scout. The Eagles promoted Davis to personnel executive after two seasons, a vague title he will retain with the Chiefs that will undoubtedly keep him plugged in with the scouting side while also providing help and perspective on the player personnel end as well.

The moves are much needed after the Chiefs have lost a number of executives this year. Marvin Allen, the director of college scouting, was poached by the Buffalo Bills earlier this year. Chris Ballard took Josh Childress with him to join the Indianapolis Colts. Then, of course, there’s Dorsey’s exit. The Chiefs previously promoted Ryan Poles to replace Allen.
