Locked On Chiefs: Seth Keysor Joins Us to Talk About Brett Veach

On Wednesday, Locked on Chiefs is joined by Seth Keysor to talk about the hiring of Brett Veach as the Kansas City Chiefs new General Manager. Veach was announced as the new GM on Monday. After a few week span of not knowing who the guy would be in a very odd time for the team, the Chiefs again have their man. Veach is a very young GM and is highly regarded around the league for his talent evaluation. Time will tell if this is the best hire for Kansas City. One thing is for sure, the Chiefs are now ready to head to camp.

Veach’s first job is to get Mahomes to be in camp from day one. Rookies and quarterbacks report several days before the rest of the team, and all of that time will help get Mahomes adjusted for camp and the NFL. Extra time with Andy Reid and Alex Smith now can go a long way toward allowing Mahomes to step in if something happens to Smith this season. His development will be a continued story throughout the year. Fans will be calling for him to start if Smith falters, but he needs time.

Pro Football Focus actually selected Mahomes at No. 13 overall in their Foundation draft. He was the first player drafted that had not played an NFL snap. All the players ahead of him were 12 current NFL QB’s. Mahomes is a player I am excited to watch when camp begins at the end of the month.
