Alex Smith and several former Chiefs will appear at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament held next week in Lake Tahoe.

Every year on the second week of July, the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament is held in Lake Tahoe. The event brings together some of the biggest entertainers in the world, including a myriad of athletes from all professional sports that makes it a rare sort of gathering and elevates it above other such events.

This year, Alex Smith is the only member of the Kansas City Chiefs who will be taking his turn on the links, but he’ll be joined by other former Chiefs also set to make an appearance. Former running back Marcus Allen, who played for Kansas City from 1993 to 1997 after also playing against them with the Oakland Raiders for the majority of his career, will be playing.

Former Chiefs pass rusher Jared Allen will also be among the many former pro athletes set to make an appearance. Current Philadelphia Eagles head coach (and former Chiefs offensive coordinator) Doug Pederson will be teeing off, as well as former Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards (now a television analyst).

Lest you think this is NFL-only or even athletes-only, a variety of entertainers will also be in attendance, including A-list celebrities like Justin Timberlake. Other non-athletes range from Kevin Nealon and Ray Romano to Larry the Cable Guy and Rob Riggle. Steph Curry, Charles Barkley, Greg Maddux, Mike Modano, Ozzie Smith, Tim Wakefield, John Smoltz and Bret Saberhagen are among the other nearly 90 participants.

Mark Mulder won the tournament the last two years and joins the field again this year. Previous winners over the last few years include Mark Rypien, Billie Joe Tolliver, Dan Quinn and Rick Rhoden.

This year’s tournament begins on July 11. You can catch full information here.
