Derrick Johnson has enjoyed a very memorable offseason as he also returns from injury, by getting engaged and helping the KC community.
Derrick Johnson already had a serious storyline for himself this offseason as he returns from an Achilles injury in time for training camp. The Kansas City Chiefs have done little to give themselves some security in case their star linebacker is not yet ready, meaning there’s already a bit of intrigue in DJ’s offseason. However, that’s only the tip of the iceberg for an eventful few months that has shown the many personal sides of the linebacker.
Not only is DJ on schedule to return just fine from his injury, even as he’ll turn 35-years-old this season, but he’s also taken time out to engage with the Chiefs community and even get engaged.
Not only is DJ now officially taken and looking forward to a future marriage, but he’s also stayed busy with his Defend the Dream Foundation. Earlier this month, DJ hosted another Celebrity Waiter Night, a fundraiser that brings together several Chiefs teammates to raise money for literacy and childrens’ educational resources.
This offseason, those funds and others have helped Johnson open his 12th and 13th Discovery Dens, brand new reading rooms in local Kansas City area metro schools for elementary aged children.
