The latest odds are out from Bovada and it’s quarterbacks galore at the top for who is expected to win the 2017 NFL MVP.
Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Those are the top two names listed by Bovada as favorites to win the NFL’s MVP in 2017, and they’re the most likely candidates most fans would likely share as well. Where things start to get interesting is third where Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is listed. Clearly the new contract has raised his reputation as well.

The fact that quarterbacks are running the MVP show is nothing new given that one of them typically receives the award each year. The only member of the Kansas City Chiefs on the list is the team’s quarterback, Alex Smith, and he’s a 66/1 longshot, tied with J.J. Watt, Odell Beckham, Jr., Rob Gronkowski, Ryan Tannehill and Jameis Winston. In all honestly, every one of those players seems a much better bet to win MVP than Smith.
It’s interesting to see Marshawn Lynch even listed here despite the fact that he hasn’t carried a football in years. His return to playing, especially in his hometown for the Raiders, has more than just fans excited but bettors as well.
Besides Watt, Von Miller is the only other defender listed by Bovada, avoiding any of the Chiefs elite players including All Pro safety Eric Berry, Justin Houston or Marcus Peters.
