Marvin Allen

Former home: Chiefs
New home: Bills

The Buffalo Bills have crossed wires quite a bit with the Kansas City Chiefs these days. First the two teams hooked up for a first round trade that netted the Chiefs with the quarterback of the future in Patrick Mahomes. The Bills, meanwhile, enjoyed the extra picks, including K.C.’s first round pick next year to move down 17 spots overall. Days later, the Bills then fired their general manager Doug Whaley and Brett Veach, a co-Director of Player Personnel for the Chiefs had his name floated in media rumors for the job. Brandon Beane won the job, coming over from the Carolina Panthers, but that hasn’t stopped the connections from continuing.

Instead, as Beane fleshes out his staff there in Buffalo, he convinced Marvin Allen to join him by taking the same post with the Bills that he had with the Chiefs: Director of College Scouting. Beane called Allen a “great resource” and spoke about his newest hire with a clear respect. It’s uncertain how the Chiefs will restructure or refill the hole that Allen leaves behind. For now, there’s no clear successor although the Chiefs have plenty of veteran scouts, such as Ryne Nutt or Trey Koziol, who might be a candidate to step up.
