Locked on Chiefs: Matt Waldman in film room with KC’s rookie class

The Kansas City Chiefs portable drafting a class of rookies based on their potential for the future. Matt Waldman, of the Rookie Scouting Portfolio, understands exactly where they’re coming from.
Matt Waldman, of the Rookie Scouting Portfolio, has done extensive research and film review of the skill position players in this draft. In particular, he has done an in-depth review of Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs new quarterback.
The contention is that in Mahomes has deficits that are coachable to the point not being a long-term concern. The overall upside of his style, competitiveness, effort and focus outways what he lacks in consistency, proper throwing platform, footwork and delivery mechanics. Footwork, in particular, is something that can be addressed in the development with cheese. Examples, like the one below, show how his long-ingrained mechanics influence his quarterbacking.

These mechanics served him well in his career in baseball. They make him all the more unique as a franchise quarterback-in-the-making. This particular plays referenced in the podcast today.
