Kansas City Chiefs: Early 53 man roster prediction
The Special Teams
Who’s In: Dustin Colquitt, Cairo Santos, James Winchester
Who’s Out: Anyone they bring in for competition
I don’t see any surprises here. Had the Chiefs signed a punter as an undrafted free agent right after the draft I might have thought that they were looking to save money on Colquitt’s big contract. Since they did not I think these three are back again for another year. I wouldn’t rule out a contract extension for Colquitt that might save them some cap space at some point.
So there you have it, my first attempt at predicting the Chiefs 53 man roster for 2017. There may have been a few surprises but nothing too controversial. While I’m sure I won’t go 100% I do feel like this is a pretty good guess of what the bulk of the roster will look like this season. So what do you think? Is there anything you feel strongly that I got wrong? Do you think this is a roster that can compete for another division title and the playoffs or do you feel like they need to add another player or two somewhere for that to happen? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
As always, thanks for reading and GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!
