Kansas City Chiefs release DB Julian Wilson

The Kansas City Chiefs have waived defensive back Julian Wilson just one day after signing DB De’Vante Bausby.
The Kansas City Chiefs have waived Julian Wilson, a defensive back who first joined the team in January after signing a reserves/future contract. The move comes one day after the Chiefs announced that they had re-signed cornerback De’Vante Bausby.
Wilson entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Baltimore Ravens after going unselected in the 2015 NFL Draft. Wilson broke his leg in training camp and spent his entire first season on injured reserve. The Ravens held on to Wilson until last September when they released him.
Wilson then caught on with the Minnesota Vikings on their practice squad, but that lasted only two weeks. He was without an NFL team for the bulk of last season before latching on with the Chiefs after the team was ousted from the playoffs by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bausby was signed on Wednesday which is likely why Wilson was cut loose by the team on Thursday. If an injury occurs in the Chiefs secondary sometime soon, don’t be surprised to hear Wilson’s name come back up as a familiar veteran. The 25-year-old Oklahoma product has a strong background in track as a sprinter, so he’s likely to find his speed useful to some team heading into minicamp season.
