The New England Patriots set the bar high by giving undrafted free agent linebacker Harvey Langi $100K in guaranteed salary for 2017.

Harvey Langi, a former Brigham Young University linebacker, drew considerable interest from several NFL teams before the draft. Unfortunately for Langi, he failed to hear his name called over draft weekend despite the myriad visits and workouts, but the New England Patriots rewarded him by making him the highest-paid undrafted free agent in the NFL.

Langi drew interest from the Kansas City Chiefs as a versatile linebacker and it’s possible that he was given some sort of offer from Dorsey to join the Chiefs. However there’s no way any team would compete with $100,000 in guaranteed base salary. Perhaps this is a signal that future considerations will be much higher given that the Pats just broke the six-figure threshold. Compare Langi’s haul to some of the deals offered by the Chiefs.

In short, the Chiefs have a long way to go before convincing the Langis of the world to sign with them. Then again if the Chiefs wanted him bad enough, they could have traded back up into the draft in the seventh round to secure his services.

Langi had 57 tackles and 2 sacks last season for BYU.
