Chidobe Awuzie, Kevin King, DeShone Kizer, Malik McDowell and Cam Robinson are among the players still waiting heading into Day 2.
Of all of the players invited to attend the 2017 NFL Draft and sit in the green room, five of them still remain available now that the first round is completely wrapped up. Those five include Michigan State defensive lineman Malik McDowell, Colorado cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, Washington cornerback Kevin King, Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer and Alabama offensive lineman Cam Robinson.
It’s surprising that several of these players are still left given how often their names were mentioned early in mock drafts. Each of them should be among the first names off of draft boards early in Day 2. The Green Bay Packers lead things off at No. 33 overall atop the second round starting on Friday night.
Kizer might be the one left standing the longest, depending on how teams have Kizer sized up against other quarterbacks who enter the equation in round two, including Davis Webb, Nathan Peterman, Josh Dobbs and the like. The young quarterback was once mentioned as a top pick just a year ago, but a down year with questionable decision-making skills have sabotaged his draft stock.
Other interesting names that are left include running backs Dalvin Cook and Joe Mixon, guard Forrest Lamp, cornerback Sidney Jones, defensive end Chris Wormley and safety Budda Baker.
