Mayock’s Rankings:
1. Sam Bradford
2. Jimmy Clausen
3. Tim Tebow
4. Colt McCoy
5. John Skelton

2010 will always be remembered as the Tim Tebow draft. There was a big debate that year over whether Tim Tebow was a viable quarterback in the league or not. Mayock said he doubted it. In a poor quarterback class, he ranked Tebow as his third best quarterback. But he said he wouldn’t take him in the first and he’d like to see a team give him work at other positions as well. Mayock had Sam Bradford ranked as his top quarterback with Jimmy Clausen right behind him. His top five rounded out with Colt McCoy and John Skelton.

Bradford did go first overall to the Rams in 2010, but he never showed the elite talent that Mayock said he possessed. Of course he did say that based on Bradford staying healthy, which he has not been for any real stretch of time in his career. Much to Mayock’s surprise, Clausen dropped to the second round. Even Tebow was drafted ahead of him going in the first to the Denver Broncos. During the broadcast of the draft Mayock could not believe teams where passing on Clausen, although clearly they knew more than him. Clausen has never made it above back-up status in the league and performed poorly when played. Both McCoy and Skelton have had okay runs as backups but neither has been a threat to start in the NFL.
