Justin Cox, former defensive back for the Kansas City Chiefs, has been banned from the CFL after an arrest for domestic violence.

If you’re a passionate Kansas City Chiefs fans, then you might remember the bit of trivia that Justin Cox was an undrafted free agent signed by the Chiefs after the 2015 NFL Draft. Cox didn’t last long in Kansas City but instead found a place to thrive in the Canadian Football League with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Unfortunately a recent arrest for domestic violence has led to his release from the team and ultimate ban from playing elsewhere in the CFL.

The official charge levied against Cox is “assault with bodily harm.” It’s the latest incident for Cox who has an unfortunate legal history that includes charges of burglary and domestic violence in college, and he had further charges for domestic violence after signing with the Chiefs, who released him shortly thereafter.

Cox took to Twitter both to apologize but to also raise questions about the charges.

Cox now faces an uncertain future at the age of 24. While his talent is obvious, even for the NFL, it’s unlikely that any team will touch him given his inability to stay clean and out of trouble at any level. Perhaps a foreign league will open up for him somehow, but it’s also likely Cox has played professional football for the last time.
