Mel Kiper Jr. is back with his latest mock draft with a twist, one in which each team’s moves are simply about getting an “A” grade.
The latest mock draft from Mel Kiper, Jr. is out, and the ESPN draft analyst is going a full three rounds in this latest draft that’s focused not on what he thinks the teams themselves will actually do based on rumors or what he’s hearing, but rather on what specific draft picks each team could make to earn an “A” grade. In short, if Kiper could put himself in charge of every single team, this is exactly how the first three rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft would fall.
Unfortunately, Kiper refuses to make any trades, which means it’s unlikely that Kansas City Chiefs fans will see results like what Kiper has for them here. With 10 total picks, general manager John Dorsey has plenty of ammunition to move around the draft to get the guys he wants. It’s also important to note that the Chiefs simply don’t have the roster space for 10 total rookies, so Dorsey would do well to package picks at a certain point to move up at least once. The Chiefs will be focused on quality more than quantity, in other words.
That said, Kiper’s picks at least give us a sense as to what the media believes to be the team’s biggest needs and how Dorsey could potentially fill those with the resulting picks in the first three rounds. The Chiefs have four picks in these rounds total, so here are the picks as Kiper unveiled them.
