Kansas City Chiefs fans might enjoy the idea of drafting Mitchell Trubisky even more after hearing he’s compared to former Chiefs QB Trent Green.
Daniel Jeremiah, popular NFL analyst, recently posted a column comparing several NFL Draft prospects to current or former pro football players to help give an idea of what these players might resemble at the next level. Kansas City Chiefs fans might be surprised to hear the pro comparison for North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky: former Chiefs quarterback Trent Green.
Green played for the Chiefs for six years of his 11-year NFL career, coming over from the St. Louis Rams in 2001. Green led the NFL in interceptions during his first year with the Chiefs, but he steadily grew into a quality starter who could move the chains and win games, including a memorable 13-3 season in 2003. He finished with a career record of 48-40 with the Chiefs.
"Jeremiah writes, “They have a similar body type, and both players are above-average athletes at the quarterback position.”"
Trubisky has already had a personal visit with the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium after also meeting with the team at the NFL Combine. The North Carolina product is largely considered to be the top quarterback available in the draft and it’s unlikely he will be available unless the Chiefs trade up in the first round to grab him.
Trubisky had 30 touchdowns and 6 interceptions last year in his only season as a starter for the Tar Heels.
